Ragnar Söderberg's Foundation

Ragnar Söderberg's Foundation

In May of 1960, the two brothers Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg established eponymous foundations with the aim to promote scientific research and educational programmes, primarily within the fields of economy, medicine and jurisprudence. The donation documents were signed by the brothers as well as Torsten's wife Wanja and their respective children.

About the donors
Torsten and Ragnar were sons to the consul-general  Olof A Söderberg and his wife Otilia. Ragnar, born in 1900, graduated from Stockholm School of Economics and subsequently acquired an honorary doctorate in economics. Like his father, he was the consul-general for Norway. He held the presidential posts in Söderberg & Haak, Ratos, Holmens bruk, Bulten Kanthal, Electrolux, Esselte and Skandia, as well as the vice presidential post in Asea and Stockholms Enskilda Bank. He passed away in 1974.
Torsten the elder, born in 1894, held a Bachelor of Laws, was the consul-general for Romania and director of the family business Söderberg & Haaks in Gothenburg. He was also the vice president of Gothenburg's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and of the city's conservancy before he passed away in 1960.
